Statement: Xinjiang Police Files Unveils the Human Cost of Uighur Genocide and Offers Irrefutable Need for Action

Justice For All Canada highlights the unprecedented collection of images and documents revealing the sheer impact of human rights violations on Uighur Muslims under the Chinese regime in Xinjiang (East Turkestan). The data, hacked from police computers, includes visual proof of the concealed mass incarceration campaign and a “shoot-to-kill” policy for Uighur escapees.

The “Xinjiang Police Files” provides the Canadian government and the international community with the largest body of photographic evidence validating the genuine truth and reality of the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Uighurs.

Coinciding with UN High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet’s ongoing presence in the region, this revelation lends valuable insight into the extensive and secretive internment of Uighur Muslims and Turkic groups. According to reports, Bachelet will also visit East Turkestan through a schedule tightly controlled by the Chinese government.

“Finally seeing faces of incarcerated Uighurs will undoubtedly humanize their suffering, particularly for youth detainees like Rahile Omer, only 14 at the time of her detention,” said Taha Ghayyur, Executive Director. “The question is whether authorities in China will allow Bachelet to move freely and speak directly with Uighurs without interference,” added Ghayyur.

This anti-Uighur brutality the world now witnesses is something Justice For All Canada has been advocating about for years. We continue levelling our human rights demands to key figures in the Canadian government, particularly Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:

  1. That Canada’s Prime Minister, and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, must call out Beijing’s direct involvement in the Uighur genocide.
  2. Magnitsky sanctions must be implemented against the highest officials of the Xi Jinping regime.
  3. Canada must carry out further divestments from China, especially in business and trade.

Justice For All Canada recently called on the UN to ensure its visit to East Turkestan remains
transparent. We continue to urge the UN to release its long-awaited report promising to document the dire situation of Uighur Muslims. Following Bachelet’s trip, Canadian human rights defenders also expect the UN not to ignore the Uighur crisis any longer. The UN and its founding members, especially Canada, must act immediately in light of the new findings referenced in the Xinjiang Police Files.

The Xinjiang Police Files now provides a harrowing look into Chinese police authorities’ cruelty and systemic actions targeting Uighurs.
