On December 8th, 2022, Justice For All Canada advocates will join human rights groups at a Parliamentary media conference commemorating International Human Rights Day. Organized by Canadians United Against Hate, the event engages MP Heather McPherson and additional activists representing:
During the conference, respective organizations will unite under shared concerns about the Canadian government’s inability to take crucial foreign policy action against ongoing global atrocities and crimes against humanity. Speakers will discuss the genocide against Uighurs, state-sanctioned hate speech and hate crimes facing Indian minorities, Israel’s apartheid policies against Palestinians, including strategies the Canadian government must take to fulfill its international humanitarian obligations.
Justice For All Canada is a non-partisan, nonprofit human rights and advocacy organization conducting genocide-prevention awareness at the local community and government levels. Our campaigns advocate for the security, equality and religious freedoms of persecuted minority groups in regions like East Turkestan, Kashmir, Sri Lanka, India, Palestine and Burma.
“The media conference allows us to highlight that while Canada’s foreign policy provides the world with a progressive and feminist image of the country, its approach reflects unequal implementation towards all human rights for minorities,” said Taha Ghayyur, Executive Director of Justice For All Canada. “We’re demanding policies and bilateral relations that don’t embolden authoritarian and fascist regimes to continue committing grave atrocities against minorities,” added Ghayyur.
This year’s International Human Rights Day takes place amid an array of Charter rights violations in Canada, which activists will strive to highlight at the media conference, including;
Justice For All Canada urges the government to reclaim its human rights position in the world. Federal leaders must take decisive action to defend oppressed minorities like Uighurs, Rohingya, Indian minorities and Palestinians. Otherwise, Canada will continue consistently failing its international obligations. Our demands seek a substantive defence of persecuted minority peoples and communities, including justice and accountability of perpetrators responsible for grave rights abuses.
