Justice For All Canada’s volunteer engagement program brings together people from all walks of life — students, professionals, retirees — united by a shared commitment to human rights, justice, and dignity for all.

Whether you have a few hours a month or more time to give, your voice matters. Volunteering with us is an opportunity to take meaningful action, connect with like-minded individuals in your community, and help amplify the voices of those facing injustice. You’ll receive guidance, resources, and training so you can make an impact while balancing your other priorities.

As a volunteer, you’ll be part of a nationwide network of advocates working to raise awareness and influence change. You might take action by:

1. Engaging with media and spreading awareness online
2. Meeting or writing to elected officials
3. Supporting campaigns and educational initiatives
4. Sharing human rights stories in your community

“One voice alone may not shake a tree, but 100,000 voices united can rumble a forest.”

We have various volunteer roles available; you pick!

  • Justice Ally
  • Justice Builder
  • Justice Defender
  • Justice Anchor
What am I committing to as a volunteer?
Location: Volunteers can join from anywhere in Canada. You may become part of a local chapter in your city or university, or join our national team virtually if no local chapter currently exists in your area.

Duration: We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of six months for most roles. Chapter Leads or those in specialized positions may commit for longer, based on campaign needs and availability.

Hours: Volunteer hours vary depending on your role. They can range from 2 hours per month to 15 hours per month depending on your engagement tier.

Compensation: All positions are voluntary and unpaid. However, volunteers gain access to mentorship, training, professional development, and the opportunity to lead advocacy efforts in their communities.
What are the different volunteer roles?
As a Justice Ally, you may:
  • Sign and share petitions or open letters
  • Write emails to Members of Parliament
  • Attend public rallies, vigils, or awareness events
  • Share campaign messages and graphics on social media

As a
Justice Builder, you may:
  • Participate in coordinated letter-writing campaigns, op-eds, and meetings with elected officials
  • Assist in organizing or supporting events such as teach-ins, panels, or community forums
  • Mobilize others in your networks to take action
  • Track your advocacy efforts using our reporting tools

As a
Justice Defender (Media Watch Volunteer), you may:
  • Monitor online and traditional media for bias, misinformation, or gaps in coverage related to our focus areas (e.g. Palestine, Uyghurs, Kashmir, Indigenous rights)
  • Report findings and help inform strategic communications
  • Support accountability in journalism through timely alerts

As a
Justice Anchor, you may:
  • Coordinate a team of local or campus volunteers
  • Plan and host monthly meetings to engage your chapter
  • Organize campaign actions, such as public events or MP visits

Report on chapter activities and collaborate with staff to align on national campaign goals

Who can join as a volunteer?
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, regions, and levels of experience. Whether you are new to advocacy or have a long history of social justice work, your voice and perspective are valuable here.

Justice For All Canada is committed to equity and diversity. We actively encourage participation from individuals who are women, Indigenous, racialized, persons with disabilities, or from other communities who have historically been marginalized. We believe that a diverse volunteer base strengthens our campaigns and deepens our impact.

You do not need to have prior experience. We provide orientation, advocacy toolkits, and ongoing mentorship to ensure you feel confident and supported in your role.

How do I become a volunteer?
Simply sign up to volunteer HERE. Select the department you want to get involved with. You will be added to our volunteer mailing list and we will reach out to you regarding next steps!
What happens after I sign up to volunteer?
After signing up, you will receive a follow-up email getting you to take action right away and connect you, if applicable, to your local or campus chapter. You will be connected with your Justice Anchor Lead or staff contact, who will welcome you to the team and guide you through your first steps.

You will be invited to attend the next monthly meeting or volunteer onboarding session, where you will meet fellow volunteers, learn about current campaign priorities, and begin taking action.
From this point forward, your Justice Anchor Lead or volunteer coordinator will be your main point of contact for guidance, resources, and support.

Congratulations—you are now officially part of the Justice For All Canada volunteer network.
