Submission to the UN Human Rights Committee - Canada’s 7th Periodic Review (ICCPR)​

In partnership with the Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights (CLAIHR), Justice For All Canada submitted a joint report to the United Nations Human Rights Committee in advance of Canada’s 7th periodic review under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Our report is meant to assist the Committee’s constructive dialogue with Canada during its 145th session and its assessment of Canada’s compliance with its obligations to the ICCPR.

Our report documents the suppression of freedom of expression and association in Canada for those advocating for Palestinian human rights. Three priority issues include:

  1. The criminalization of political speech, including the misuse of “hate-motivated” criminal charges;
  2. The disproportionate policing response to Pro-Palestinian protests; and
  3. Discrimination and censorship by Universities and politicians at various levels of government.
