What is the Public Policy Prize?

Justice For All Canada’s Public Policy Prize is a grant open to any Canadian citizen currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, offered in partnership with the Olive Tree Foundations with the following aims:

  • Capacity Building: Develop Canadian civil society’s expertise in public policy relative to JFAC’s human rights campaigns.
  • Inclusion: Promote Muslim and Muslim-allied voices in the public policy-making process.
  • Systemic Change: Mitigate systemic Islamophobia within public policy frameworks.
  • Awareness: Raise the profile of Justice For All Canada’s advocacy campaigns (Burma Task Force; Kashmir Action; Muslim-Indigenous Solidarity; Palestine Solidarity; Save India from Fascism; Save Uyghur).
Competition Rules & Guidelines:

The competition requires eligible students to select one (1) of the following projects:

  • A two (2)-page policy briefing note (single-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 pt font, 1” margins)
  • Five (5) one-minute Instagram reels
    • Must be educational in nature
    • Suitable for social media
    • Must not use copyrighted content
    • Must be your original work
  • Five (5) infographics
    • Must not use copyrighted content
    • Must be your original work
    • Must use accurate facts

​The content must be centred around one of Justice For All Canada’s 8 major human rights campaigns. Campaigns can be found here.

Eligibility
Must be a Canadian citizen currently enrolled in any undergraduate or graduate programme, with proof.

1st Place: $2000
Runner-up: $500
Judges

A committee of three (3) individuals will evaluate entries. This panel shall consist of two (2) Justice For All Canada representatives and one (1) external expert from the public service or academia.

Timeline

  • Submission Deadline: August 19. 
  • Selection Process: by September 30.
  • Winner Announcement: October Gala Dinner.

Intellectual Property and Use of Work

The student shall retain ownership of the intellectual property of their submission. However, by entering the competition, the student grants JFAC and OTF a non-exclusive, perpetual license to use, reproduce, and distribute the submission for educational and advocacy purposes, provided the student is credited as the author.
