Canadian Delegates Denied Entry to West Bank Hold Ottawa Press Conference on Illegal Settlements
A group from the 30 humanitarian and civil society leaders denied entry to West Bank will speak on Parliament Hill about illegal settlement expansion, settler violence and barriers to human rights observation.
TORONTO, Dec. 29, 2025
On Monday, December 29, 2025, human rights advocates and humanitarian leaders from a Canadian delegation led by The Canadian Muslim Vote, denied entry to the West Bank, will gather on Parliament Hill to present firsthand testimony and urge the Government of Canada to act on Israel’s illegal settlements, which drive displacement and severe restrictions on Palestinian life. The media event will take place at 11:00 am in Room 135-B, West Block, 111 Wellington Street, Ottawa, ON.
Last week, Israel’s security cabinet approved 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, including retroactive legalization of previously dismantled outposts, drawing condemnation from Canada. United Nations experts have criticized this move, previously warning that accelerating settlement expansion will entrench de facto annexation, fuel settler violence against Palestinians, and further contribute to the growing displacement of Palestinian communities.
The press conference will feature the following speakers:
“What we experienced at the border is a small example of the decades-long mistreatment faced by Palestinians in the occupied territories. We remain committed as ever to challenge Israeli apartheid, occupation, violence and forced displacement of Palestinians,” said Taha Ghayyur, Executive Director of Justice For All Canada.
MEDIA NOTE: Participation in the question and answer portion of this event is in person or via Zoom, and is for accredited members of the Press Gallery only. Media who are not members of the Press Gallery may contact [email protected] for temporary access.
