JFAC Law Student Summer Internship Program

Justice for All Canada (JFAC) is a faith-based human rights and genocide prevention organization, with UN Consultative Status and registered with Lobbyists Canada.

We are pleased to invite applications for our 2025 Law Student Summer Internship Program. This unique opportunity is open to law students with strong legal research and writing skills who are passionate about international human rights, genocide prevention and advocacy for persecuted Muslim minorities globally.
Program Overview:

The Summer Program is designed to provide a meaningful legal experience, mentorship, and professional development in a supportive environment. Summer legal interns will have an opportunity to contribute to critical advocacy for persecuted Muslim-minorities across various JFAC campaigns, such as:
  • Save Palestine;
  • Save Uyghur;
  • Save Rohingya (Burma Task Force);
  • Save India from Fascism; and/or
  • Indigenous Solidarity

Opportunities for students include:
  • Conducting legal research, including:
    • Analysis of international treaties (e.g. the Genocide Convention, Rome Statute, Arms Trade Treaty) as well as domestic legislation (e.g. Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act, Export and Import Permits Act);
    • Review of relevant case law; 
    • Research regarding ongoing court cases related to our campaigns (e.g. genocide cases before the International Court of Justice, prosecutions at the International Criminal Court, relevant domestic litigation)
  • Observing legal and advocacy-related hearings and events;
  • Analyzing reports from the UN and various NGOs;
  • Drafting and reviewing advocacy briefs to advance our causes;
  • Contributing to overall policy analysis and advocacy on genocide prevention and human rights; and/or
  • Other work that will support the JFAC team.

Our team will provide mentorship and opportunities to engage directly in advocacy that challenges Islamophobia, state-sponsored violence and systemic human rights violations.

Additional Information:
  • The term of this internship will align with law school summer terms (May - August). Amendments to the term based on individual academic schedules will be considered upon request.
  • Hours of the internship will be determined in consultation with each applicant, taking into account any minimum hour requirements set by law school internship programs or fellowship funding opportunities (if applicable).
  • This is an unpaid internship opportunity
  • This position will be remote, with potential opportunities for in-person engagements throughout the term.
