Support for the Anti-Racism Action Plan
Dear Attorney General of British Columbia,
On behalf of the undersigned organizations and the communities they represent across British Columbia, we acknowledge and appreciate the Province of British Columbia’s leadership and ongoing efforts to advance anti-racism initiatives and develop meaningful frameworks aimed at addressing systemic discrimination and inequities experienced by many communities throughout the province.
As residents of British Columbia, we believe that every individual deserves to live with dignity, safety, and respect, free from discrimination based on their identity, race, ethnicity, religion, cultural background, or political expression. All residents must feel protected under the law and confident that their rights, voices, and lived experiences are recognized and valued.
In particular, we urge the Province to ensure that Anti-Palestinian Racism is explicitly recognized and included within the Anti-Racism Action Plan. Many members of Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim communities — as well as their allies — continue to experience discrimination, marginalization, silencing, fear, and barriers in workplaces, educational institutions, public spaces, and civic life. Addressing these experiences openly and transparently is essential to building trust, accountability, and meaningful inclusion.
The Anti-Racism Action Plan has the potential to establish a strong and lasting foundation for a more inclusive, equitable, and compassionate British Columbia. By recognizing and addressing all forms of racism — including Anti-Palestinian Racism — the Province can help foster a society in which all communities feel seen, protected, respected, and safe. This letter is both a statement of support for a comprehensive Anti-Racism Action plan and a call for meaningful action and accountability to ensure that no community is left behind in the pursuit of equity and justice.
We look forward to continued engagement and collaboration in helping build a stronger and more inclusive future for all people in British Columbia.
Sincerely,
Justice 48
