Hiring: Community Relations Officer
Justice for All Canada is seeking to hire a results-driven Community Relations Officer, in a part-time capacity, to expand its network in the city and mobilize the community for action.
Location: Calgary or Edmonton, onsite
Hours: 15-20 hours / week (Part-Time)
Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until position is filled
About Us: Justice for All Canada is a leading human rights and advocacy organization dedicated to defending Muslim minority rights, challenging genocides, and saving lives. Our mission is rooted in the values of PEACE (Purpose, Empathy, Action, Collaboration, and Equity). We are a Muslim-led Canadian nonprofit with consultative status at the United Nations, working toward creating a world enabled and protected by justice. Our major campaigns include Save Palestine, Save Uyghur, Burma Task Force, Kashmir Action and Save India.
Responsibilities
The Community Relations Officer will be primarily responsible for the following duties:
● Developing strong relationships with Mosques and community organizations ● Setting up a tables at Mosques on Fridays to promote JFA Canada work and collect email sign ups
● Set up and manage organization presence at community events
● Distribute Action Alerts and awareness brochures across the city on a weekly basis ● Recruit and manage outreach volunteer teams in the city
● Update database of email sign ups regularly
● Organize awareness building events (seminars / workshops / leadership briefings) ● Organize and Assist with fundraising events as needed
Education
● Post-secondary / undergraduate degree
● Background in project management, community outreach, non-profit or human rights sector an asset
Experience & Skills
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
● Experience in community relations and stakeholder management
● Experience in building partnerships and networks
● Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
● Ownership of responsibility and tasks
● Strong facilitation, coordination and organizational skills
● Flexibility to work on Friday afternoons, weekends and weekday evenings as required ● Onsite availability required
● Flexibility to travel for work as required
● Access to a car required
